A: Transcoding MKV to ProRes is limited to the Mac OS having certain software installed.
This includes one of the following:
*Final Cut Pro
*Final Cut Server
*Logic Pro
*Compressor
These applications install the proper ProRes component, which is need for ProRes encoding. So, you can't transcode video to ProRes without installing one of the four apps.
